Sometimes we need a little aide-memoire to gain a better clarity of life. This assists a great deal in getting rid of the silly woes pestering us unnecessarily.

Many times we tend to complicate things in life by worrying about trivial things like traffic, a silly fight, an irritated kid or a cluttered inbox. We tend to forget that ultimately life is short.

5. Each passing day, you are one day closer to death.

It may sound a bit dramatic, but let’s face it.

We all need to be aware of the fact that each day we live brings us an inch closer to the death. That doesn’t imply that you should be afraid of death. However, this should be a wake-up call to experience life before it’s too late. Try the things you always wanted to do but were too hesitant to take action.

Life is transient, so make the most of it TODAY! As Steve Jobs asserted in his Stanford Speech, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.”

The expectations, pride, fear of embarrassment and failure – all these elements that you constantly keep worrying about, fade away with time. What matters is how joyously you lived your life and the value you gave to the world.

4. You are making an impact on the world, whether you are aware of it or not.

Each one of us is only a single entity among the massive billions of species habituating the earth. So, it’s easy to undermine our impact in this enormous world.

Yet, we need to understand that every one of us is contributing to the world by demonstrating our integrity of living in it. For instance, a person addicted to smoking will create air pollution whether he intends to or not. On the other hand, giving someone a simple smile or texting them a motivational quote may brighten them up, even if it’s a tiny thing.

Life is a gift to be cherished, loved and shared. Use it wisely, live it to the fullest, but just don’t waste it. Life is too valuable to leave your song unsung, your book unwritten, or your dreams are undone. Stop doubting yourselves. You are absolutely special and gifted in your own way.
